Outdoor unit runs for a short time then cuts out. No fault lights/codes display. Outdoor unit re starts after three minutes, room not achieving temperature. This happens in heating and cooling.

Is this the old R22 units, 1 up / 1 down?

Had one of them doing the same thing after the outdoor unit's thermistor "bundle" started to fall apart a couple of years ago.(The cables' insulation had become so brittle that it started to fall off)
