Hi Guys, I'm a newy!

Im an old sparks who did some refrigeration years ago - but have forgot it all.

Our clubs old Scotsman ACM 125 gave years of good service, then it stopped making ice - I'm supposed to fix it!

The condensor fan was detached - so I refitted it, the front bearing was quite worn, but it works, ran it up - made ice - me hero.

Next day - no ice - me not hero.

The compressor was hot, the condensor fan motor was Bl**dy hot - though still working.

The compressor thermal cutout had tripped - I managed to get it to reset.

Left it for half hour to cool down (needed longer)

Ran it up - making ice again.

I checked few hours later - no ice.

Compressor was hot and had tripped the thermal again, the condensor motor was Bl**dy hot again.

I can't find any manuals for it.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks.

When the front bearing is gone, its gone. Replace the fan motor and thoughly clean the condenser as well as the fan blade. Good airflow is crucial.

I have now fitted a new fan motor - and cleaned the condensor rad and fan, it now works fine.

Though the old fan appered to be running ok, it must have been running slower because of the worn bearing.

Thanks for the help.
