can any one tell me why should a '
megaohm meter NOT be used on some hermetic compressor motor winding?
is it something to the winding

There is no reason. Windings are able to withstand a testing voltage of at least twice the operating voltage.
We test the compressor windings at 1750 volts.

We only should not use megohmeter when the compressor is in VACUUM. (then winding insulation will be for sure disrupted)
