what causes a propane fridges safety valve to shut off? Propane tank is full. I has been running fine, but now after the 30 second test start, when if burns fine, the safety valve shuts and the display gives a "no fl" message - manual says that means "burner did not ingite or re-ignite". So why would the safety valve shut. Help!!!

Thanks,

Doug

The flame heats up a thermocouple or thermopile. Looks like a small stick with wires on the end. This is what senses the flame. Clean it with steel wool or fine sandpaper and make sure the flame is hitting it. If that doesn't do the trick, you will need to replace it.

You sir, are a GOD!!!!!!!!!! When I took the cover off to clean the sensor. I found it covered with a bunch of big rust flakes which had fallen down the vent tube. I simply removed them and Wallah! It works now. This makes sense too because this unit has been sitting in a rusting bus in storage for 5 years near the ocean. When I first fired it up, it worked for 8 hours, then quit, so that is when the rust flakes must have fallen. I knew it was something simple like this, but didn't know what. I couldn't reach the manufacturer and the local repair place was booked for weeks. So thank you a million times.
