Hi;

I have the above unit installed in my home with 8 indoor units. I am getting an error code 5101. The system is running but seems to short cycle. The installer has not been of much help. Am now running two hour cooling test. What readings should I be looking for? looking for expert to make sure system is optimized.

Thanks

Michael

All the fault codes starting with 51 relate to temperature sensor faulure
open or closed circuit.

5101 is the fault code for the indoor units return air sensor Th21
and or
the outdoor unit TH4 temperature sensor.
If you have full fuction remote controller it will also display the address of the unit which has the faulty temperature sensor with the fault code.

The temperature sensors need to be checked for correct resistance
20 deg C = 6.3 ohms
30 deg C = 4.3 ohms

My son could do this when he was about 13 years old & doing electronics technology at school.

Suspect your air conditioning contractor needs payment or training.

Thanks for the reply.

I ran the 2 hour cooling test but nothing displayed at test end. Should there be a error code at the end of the test?

When you set the 2hr test run that just makes the system run flat out in the mode you set for two hrs.

The system will report any faults during this period the same as during normal operation.

The test run function helps the a/c engineer as he can monitor the system operation & take temperature / pressure / amps readings while the system is operating at forced max performance.
Based on the data collected the a/c engineer can then judge if the system has correct cooling / heating performance. Then if there is any poor performance he can investigate further.

If your system continues to report a 5101 fault then the temperature sensors need to be checked.
If the system has just been installed then fare chance the sensor is not plugged into the circuit board correctly. This can accidently happen when the installation enginner is making wiring connections & the sensor cables get disturbed. So it could be as simple as plugging the sensor back into its place at the circuit board.
