Hi,

What is the difference between MK5 & MK6B model of Howden WRVi compressor? Existing compressor at our system is MK5/WCV255 and we receive a new with MK6B/WRVi255. Are they interchangeable?

Can anybody help me? I came to know that WCV is interchangeable with WRVi. Two oil connections on casing to be kept plugged to use WRVi as WCV. But still not aware of difference between MK5 & MK6B.

Hello,
the compressors are interchangeable, but are different on some things.

First tell what type you have and which you have received.
(MK5/WCV255/110-165 or 193)

On the mk6 the main oil injection has been moved to the male side of the compressor (on wcv, keep them plugged) and instead of the oil injection there is now the Vi.
The mk5 has no changeable Vi.
The compressors have some changes internal and the cilinder and shaft seal are different.

Hi Gerben,

Originally installed is MK5/WCV255/130 and received is MK6B/WRVi255/130. I communicated with package supplier for the same. They have cofirmed it to be interchangeable and Vi to be set at 5.0 manually.

That is correct. I assume that the old compressor has also Vi of 5.0.
Good luck
