My Fujitsu remote control unit (AR-NJ1) is completely unresponsive.
I have tried:
Fitted new batteries.
Cleaned battery terminals.
Tested voltage to circuit board...OK
Visual check of circuit board and contacts.

Fujitsu quoted big money for a replacement, so I want to explore any possibility of remedy.
Please help. Comments invited. Thanks.

Thanks Latte

I've seen similar ones here too.
They are Digitech brand. I asked if they were compatible with my Fujitsu AST12. The response was: "It lists four different codes for Fujitsu."

Were not there misunderstandingly meant by them the fiujitsu four IR transmission codes - enabling a given control to communicate with a given unit?

I have one of these Digitech remote controls but am unable to get it to communicate. I've been through the 4 codes the instructions say are Fujitsu and also used the auto search mode. Instructions say target AC will "beep" if successful.
I live in a fairly remote location so am looking to do any/all groundwork before calling the repair shop. The heatpump is a AST12 model which I picked used so have never had running here.

OK, so a few questions to test my assumptions:
1/ The indoor unit has a manual/auto button under the cover. Which mode should I be trying to use/set the remote with? (In one of the modes, the "operation" light comes "on")
2/ Could the heat pump be too late a model for this remote?
3/ The heat pump hasn't yet been gassed yet so will this mean the remote will not work? (Was hoping to solve all units' problems before calling serviceman for gassing with R410A).
4/ Will the heat pump operate (in any mode) without a remote control?
5/ What else could I be missing?

It would be great if you could offer me any advice. Many thanks.

Yuri...please re-phrase what you are saying.

Hi Tbird. In a word you need a universal control for AC (like ones there are for TV, audio systems, etc). Use instruction applied. I dont know wether Digitech is a universal one, but if is, ask for the entire list of codes - may turn that it will work with another model s codes, not Fujitsu s.

Or simply, try all other codes available on your new control. If find several, look with each it will work better.

Yuri

Yes, the packaging for the remote says it's "universal".
There's 400 code numbers in total. Have tried a few & tried auto search twice.
I note that I can get the "operation" light to come on when I select "manual" control within the unit itself.
But it doesn't come on or beep with any code that I've discovered on the remote.
So at present I think either the remote is incompatible, the receiver is defective or the unit doesnt respond till it's gassed.
Any ideas??

Still try manually find any (and then all) codes to which the unit will respond. Follow also instruction such as when to press enter, etc. I dont think gas absence is an obstruction for installation of some communication between remote contol and the controller on PCB. Dont only make the unit work without gas, in case of success

Come to a neigbour, try your Digitech at his AC, better if it would be Fujitsu too (then still best to borrow his control). In any case - try with any AC, maybe the Digitech is not operable at all itself.

Have you tried ebay, they are usually some spares on there.

Update: I've managed to find another fujitsu remote control. It's not the same model however. It's an AR-DJ8. It does turn the inside unit on and does a number of other functions, all with a "beep" sound.
It seems odd that it won't turn the unit off though.
So, I've arranged for the unit to be gassed as soon as possible. Hopefully the remote is compatible enough to operate the unit successfully. I guess I'll find out soon.
The universal remote appears to be an absolute dead loss. I've tried and tried to get it to go. It must be a model it isn't compatible with??
