Hi All,

Having trouble connecting to a RTAC 350, I'm using the latest version of Techview with a HP laptop and a USB to Serial converter that I know is installed correctly. Error message reads "Connection Failed"

Can anybody help?

Thanks.

check the settings of your adapter, the settings should be in one of the manuals attached with the software, which version do you use??

Hi Lowrider, Thanks for your reply. I have version 12.1 installed. Where can I find the attached manuals you mentioned to check my Converter settings?

Thanks!

Give me untill tomorow, I'll be in the office and access to the intranet and will find the settings you need! I do know of some issues with certain adapters, that's why we still by laptops with a serial port or have a adapter for our service engineers which does work, but that one is expansive.

Will get back to you tomorow!

Hi Billbo and guys
I work on Trend and Tracer and have been told we have too many problems with usb converters and use laptops with a serial port. But I have ordered a belkin converter to try. I Will check this post tommorrow to see what works and what does'nt.

Thanks for the responses Guys. Sounds like the converter settings could be the culprit.

I've been using it today on another product with no problem so the hardware works.....

Hi Lowrider, Tried using "HELP" but of the two tabs that appear I can only open "ABOUT" the other tab "SERVICE LITRETURE" I've never been able to open. Not sure why. Can you email me the info somehow?

I had already changed to com port setting to com 1. It now tries to connect, but half way through connection comes up failed connection.

Hi Bill,

I also use USB to R232 converter. when I install the converter, the system assign to COM10, but it did not work(failed connection). I check and find the COM2 is not in use. I change the Port number from COM10 to COM2 at advenced seting for COM10. then ok, pl refer to the attachment.
