Riall was fined £300, banned from driving for six months and had six points added to his licence.
This is actually slightly untrue.

He was banned because of the automatic ban that comes into place after 12 points. Which means he has been done 3 times before this one.
See here...

A14 70mph limit - since when? Unless I'm mistaken is not the national speed limit 60mph. 70mph is only for motorways. The A14 is a a dual carriageway not a motorway.

If it is a dual carriageway then the NSL is 70mph.

Unless you are in a van with a GVW of over 2000kg, in which case the limit is indeed 60mph

Hummm. Think I better get the old highway code out an do some revision. Probably the reason why I haven't had a speeding ticket / fine since 1976.:p

That torn it. I'm bound to get done now for doing 31 in a 30mph limit. There's more chance of getting done on a side road by a speed camera (static or mobile plod) than on a motorway anyway.

Have any of you guys ever checked the acuracy of your speedos? 70mph on my Sat Nav equates to about 62-65mph on my speedo so I can run to about 75mph indicated on speedo faily safely. Still doesn't stop Sprinters and Vivaro's passing me like I'm standing still though.

Ummmmmmmmmm. NO.

It's the other way around.
75mph on your SPEEDO would be about 80mph in reality.
Sat Navs are generally far more accurate than speedometers.

And, if you are towing a caravan, the limit is reduced to 50mph, even on a dual carriageway and motorway.

Damn things............. should be banned - especially in Cornwall!

On second thoughts, if they were banned we wouldn't be able to have a giggle when they end up on their side after overtaking a lorry :D
