I have manuals on different car manufacturers compressors and condensors, but does any one know of a book /manual of hi and low side service port positions. Some are getting hard to find???

Try Autodata (http://www.autodata.ltd.uk/) software.

My general rule of thumb is that they are usually found along the pipework somewhere... If it is Swedish then there will be one, unless ther are two, if it is French then there are always two unless there is only one.. In both cases it may or may not be the high side sevice port unless it is or isn't the low side port... The Germans tried to fit a low side port only but fitted a high side port just in case and the Italians fitted them to the fuel system via the cigar lighter... The Americans made them from rust and the Japanese placed theirs where only a gynocologist could reach... Supercar manufacturers fitted them though they needent have bothered and the British didn't bother because it was time for tea..

As Nike said Autodata.. You can buy their books from any decent motorfactors or their data discs on line but they still can be a bit of a guess..

I agree I once worked on an Audi S2 and the low side service port was in the passenger side footwell took me ages to find it

I agree!

I got collared in to looking at a friends Merc last year.

Spent 40mins trying to find an access port, gave up in the end and told them to take it to a local Vehicle specialist instead!

Some high end mid-engined sports cars have ports under a cover somewhere along the lower rocker panels.

Oh, it's all good fun. ;)
