Evening all,

Got called out to a single door bottle cooler with the main light not working. Found no power coming out of the ballast (standard- not electronic) so ordered a new one. back to site fitted the new on and still 240v in but nothing out on the other terminal. Disconnected the outlet terminal to check nothing further down the line causing problems but still no output. Nothing special about the circuit , switch (works) ballast, starter and tube. Am i missing something REALLY stupid or does it sound like a faulty new ballast

Thanks

Have you got a neutral ?

Brian, you can not get 240V without neutral.
If by mistake you connect to the ground, you will but the PCB will trip.

Latte, check the ballast out side the fridge and see that it works, if yes, check the connections and the light switch and the cable for any faults.

If by mistake you connect to the ground, you will but the PCB will trip.Thought he said it was a basic ballast not electronic.

Hello,
If it's a normal ballast or choke as we used to call them if there is no load on the output the voltage coming out should be the same as the voltage going in. Is it one of those where you just push the cable in and it wedges in, maybe it's not making properly.

Fault finding, start at the begining and work through.Inputs and outputs from the begining. That means the on/ off main switch onwards.
