Hello All, im a newly qualified engineer, and currently sitting my City & Guilds exams. Does anyone know how to recover a plant that has been left standing for a few months. Exaclty what is the procedure and what is the difference between recovering from a plant that is running, that just needs minor changes i.e. a new filter drier.. Thanks in advance!!

This may not be Gospel, however...

With a running plant you can use the plant compressor to pump out the liquid before having to use a recovery machine.
Or, you can push/pull the liquid from the condenser/receiver having pumped the system down for a quick recovery.

With a non-running system you can try a push/pull but you may not have the liquid in the best places.
So, it could be a vapour only recovery.

If you can get some heat into the compressor to get the refrigerant out of the oil.

Basically there isn't a lot of difference between the two systems.
