Can anyone recommend a book on HVAC design incorporating pump, pipe, fan, duct sizing, cooling loads etc.
Im pretty much looking for one which would be the equivalent to the Diploma level of study in HVAC engineering.

Reggie,

I don't know of any single book that will cover all of the subjects you mention. If you are looking for air conditioning or refrigeration then you should have a look at DOSSATT. This book covers the basics and more but does not go into great detail about pumps, duct sizing etc. Really good stuff though on all things concerned with cooling. Type in the word on Google or Amazon.co.uk.

Good luck

Another good book to look for is Building Services Engineering 4th Edition by David Chadderton (ISBN 0 415 31535 2) Published by Spon Press and costs £24.99 (good value) :)

I bought a good book from Haines and it's called like you're looking for 'HVAC Systems Design Book'.

ISBN 0-8306-9313-0

I have a spare one double edition 1988 but it's still actual.

I was thinking to sell it via eBay (where I bought it)

VRV or Variable Refrigerant Volume was patented by Daikin and all other systems using the same technology use the name VRF or Variable Refrigerant Flow.
Both mean the same but it's a play on words so that there is no Patent infringement

There was another Trane Air onditioning Handbook. It must have been sometimes in the 50s. I still have the book. It is very informative. In 60s the refrence book used to be one of Carrier and another of Trane. Danfoss had a number of books for Controls. They were all very good.

I still have the Carrier and the Trane, but some one whacked the Danfoss Books. They were full of informations.

Jepoy, these books aren't available in digital format, you have to buy these.
You're asking Samarjit to do something illegal.

If everybody starts copying these books, then Mr. Dossat will never get back all the money he spend to write these very good books.

You can find second hand on Ebay or Amazon, sometimes for a fraction of the new price.

Im pretty much looking for one which would be the equivalent to the Diploma level of study in HVAC engineering.

While this is probably not diploma level, I recommend starting with these two books to get the basics of load calculation and air distribution.

Manual J Residential Load Calculation (8th Edition - Full) (http://www.acca.org/store/product.php?pid=172)

and

hello, since the last entry is from april, i do wonder a bit about who is out there. i could be on the wrong thread. i almost answered a question from 2006. i did not have THE answer, just a reply. i designed an HVAC system, heat recovery running 10 to 1 at 4kW in. $10K pays for itself in a bit more than 11/2 years. not the slightest interested person that i could find in my area. BC. Canada. So i have turned my attention back to a smaller more simple electrical inovation. i will check back.
