I am trying to manufacture an intermittent solar ice maker using standard off the shelf evacuated heat pipe collectors like the Apricus 22. Can anyone help with heat pipe options, as well as how to determine proportion of ammonia and calcium chloride. Also a formula for determing how much ice the machine will produce. Thanks.

Hey j

Just wondering if you found answers elsewhere re the solar icemaker ?

I am thinking it will take a large collection of solar energy to create the separation required.

Cheers

I know the Apricus very well because we had some to test for a long time.
But how on earth can you make ice with those?
Their purpose is heating water to a very high temperature

In my opinion it is a waste of time. A company in Denmark Solar Ice and they tried for many years without any success. But anyway good luck to you.
