This may be a really silly question like when does a boat become a ship but when does commercial become industrial

only sensible people need respond

I may be wrong Bernard but I always classed commercial as being offices and perhaps shops; industrial would be factory type premises.

The main difference I suppose is that the commercial water chiller keeps people cool while an industrial one keeps a process cool.

If this helps then I've acheived something worthwhile today ;)

Interesting reply, Brian! I would say that is logical. However, I know of industrial installations that cool people, and commercial systems that cool processes.

Size matters, but not always. I have installed 3 Ton industrial systems.

I tend to judge based upon the construction of the system. Pre-packaged, pre-wired systems are almost always not industrial. Constructed of steel pipe makes it likely to be industrial.

Ammonia systems here in the USA are virtually always industrial. We see few systems that are not ammonia being considered to be industrial.
