Hi Guys,

We have asked to quote for a condensing unit to match a DX coil within a AHU, but the only information we have at the moment are air volumes across the evaporator coil and room design temperatures.
So my question is, is it possible to size a condensing unit from that information alone, and is it something that can be done using coolpack?

Regards

Danny

You can make some very good approximations using air volume and room temps. plot them on a psychrometric chart .
Additionally you can get the detail of the evap coil, tubes high ; rows deep; number of circuits, tube size, fins/inch. assume a suitable evap temp and gas then call a coil manufacturer and ask for an equiv duty.

Or reverse engineer the evap coil and use software to determine the duty

This site has a software that can be used.

I haven't looked at the coolpack software for a long time so I can't remember if it will help or not.

can you provide the relevant information, application type ,refrigerant type room size? Your responce will only be as good as the information you provide.
