Hi as some of you may already know i am very new to the comercial side of refrigeration (job forces this) and i have been plodding on quite nicley. I have been told tody that they are getting some Cascade and climate machines machines in on r290 gas. What are Cascade and climate machines as i have googled them and cant find any thing on them??? is it a type or a make?? No one knows any thing at work as i am the only one on the fridge side.:confused:

A cascade system is where you have at least two refrigeration system working together.

Because the low side gases run at very high pressures if used with ambient condensers they use the evaporator of the high side unit to cool the condenser of the low side one.

Climate machines can be a cabinet with a cooling system with electric reheat to ramp up and down or hold a set, but adjustable, temperature. Often used to test manufactured items.

Look up a PT chart for R23 to give you some ideas of pressures.

R23 at -28°C is 138psig and about zero psig at -82°C

R290 is propane, be careful !!!
