Hi My name is Joe Favia, I'm the Chief Engineer on a builing in Miami Florida.
We have 3 York air cooled YCAS0300 Chillers, in the past 7 years we've had to replace all 9 copressors and now I have 2 more. I have eaven had Siemens remplace Filters 3 times a year. we eaven check the pressures every day to make sure that it's not on our end. every time these compressors go bad, they make a really loud noise and burn out.
Does anybody else has these types of problems and what have you had to do to prevent the compressors to burn out?

Please let me know.

thanks

Joe

Welcome to the forum Joe.

What was the analysis of the dead compressors?

Motor burn-outs will give the reason when the windings are examined normally.

Hi joe may be bearings are worn out ,but i think they have a 50000 hours under design conditions and also it could be the big spring breaking and the the compressor doesnt unload it starts fully loaded

What are these filters for?

Problems we've seen involved the unloading solenoids being incorrectly sequenced and allowing full load on start up and decreasing capacity with increasing cooling load!

Good machines thou!
