Hi all,
I work in air conditioning across a range of equipment. I have never had to check oil pressures before. How would you do this and what should the pressures be. All the equipment I work on operate hermetic compressors but vary between recips and scrolls.

Hello heath t oil pressure varies from compressor to compressor, mechanical wear of bearings and big ends and the tension of oil pressure relief valves, quality of oil ,gas charge and temperature of oil,but give us the compressor make and model and i,ll tell you what pressure you should expect, its suction pressure minus the oil gross pressure. E.g 60psi sp and 110 gross oil pressure =50 psi net oil pressure

Thanks Ghaz,
No compressor in particular, I was just talking in general. would you know where I could maybe download info on different compressors that would help. Thanks all the same, you have definately shone some light on the matter for me.
