fluor testing

Yo M8's,
have to do some fluor testing on a Daikin VRV2 system whit 11 indoor units. never done this before on a unit like this. all comments or idea's welcome.

Fluor testing? What that mean? Do you mean testing for presence of Fluorinated hydrocarbons in air conditioned area?

No Nike, its a test for leaks. we add a substance that contains fluor and do a check whit a lamp. so if there is a leak somewhere its visible by light.

The name was given as a description of the essence of the mineral fluorite (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorite), composed of calcium fluoride (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcium_fluoride), which gave a visible emission when illuminated with "invisible radiation" (UV radiation).

I will do it as last resort and only with compressor manufacturer approved dye.

now i need the approval of Daikin and i am halve way.
can i let the units in operation??? as for spectroline its ok..... but i want to be sure.

That is the only way to dye appear on leak place. Best is to check after few hours of operation after dye introduction to system, and if not visible at that time, than after two weeks. Dye stays in system for good, and could show you further developed leaks in maintenance inspections.

Be careful when introducing dye, because I trowed away my hoses, and my hands are yellow for two weeks in daylight.:confused::D

i ask for the manufacturer how about the performence ect.. of the unit,and they thake no more warranty after the use of fluor leaktesting. also the provider told me that once it entered the system it never gos away.

i think of starting whit a high presure test whit a mixture of nitrogene and some refrigrant,and use soap and digital leaktester. if whe dont find what whe are looking for,then perhaps the fluor.
also the manufacturer (Daikin) has a way of overiding the multi-split boxes,so all the valves are going to be open for testing.....so far so good,hope it will come clear on monday.

iam sure on daikin if you put the system on full heating then kill the power all the valves remain open untill power is put back on

in this way you only keep the valves on high presure open.on the Daikin systems you can change some swithes on the main board so the cool and hot valve's stays open.its even dangerus to swith the power off and on. had a main pcb board ones and cost me nearly 650€.:confused:
