Hi all,
I have a heat pump based split system
in Northern VA.
The Air handler data are as follows:
Ruud:
Model - UHQA-1215S
Serial - HM15919702

The heat pump data are as follows:
Ruud:
Model - UPGC-036JAS
Serial - 4442M01920678

I am looking to replace the evaporator coil and
the compressor this spring.
This is a 36000 BTU unit and runs on 15Kw electric
coils for emergency heat.

Can someone recommend me a replacement
evaporator coil model number? A referral source will
be great as well.
I guess RCQB-A036 is a replacement, but cannot
seem to find one online.

Also will a 36500 BTU copeland 3ton compressor
work as a replacement. The compressor i have
in mind has a model # of 55-23139-57S.

I have been finding it hard to get a reliable contractor fix the unit. The first guy screwed up the
wiring. The second guy spent time fixing the screw
up and charged me $400. The second firm said that
they want $5500 to put a new unit since if the
Shader valve will leak, it cannot be fixed and will
need to be replaced with a new unit. In 3 months of
these guys fixing it and giving me the $5500 quote,
the outdoor unit ices up. I call them again. They
disconnected the outdoor unit and mentioned that
the defrost control board is bad and they cannot
find a replacement and again suggest replacing both
the indoor and outdoor unit. I have never had an
issue with the unit when i used to live in the home
not long ago. I am willing to pay a honest pay for
a honest job. Why is it so hard to find a honest
technician?
I know the issues can be fixed without doing a
fork lift upgrade. I now have a technician that i
am going to take with me to do a 600mile roundtrip
to fix the issue. The home is rented out and
i am barely holding on to the breakeven. Spending
the $5500 is not possible at this time.

Thanks for reading and any tips/advice.

seems like you got yourself burned by some jerk.. A schrader pin takes 2 min to change out and is hardly a reason to change out your system... You seem to have a company that is hungry for money or just plan STUPID... Schrader pin is like the valve that holds your air in on your tires of your car that is all it is.. the king valve is what the pin is inserted to which is not something that commonly goes on ac's but they do, if that is the case then it would cost about 500.00 to change out but like I said before, it is uncommon... a change out of your unit, you could get a Carrier, a Payne, a comfortmaker, will work on your unit as long as it is a match of a 3 ton.. I speak for Fla when I say this but price range for a 3 ton runs 3300 on up.
