Can some please clarify the following for me: A Mits MSZ GB50VA apparently requires a 25Amp BS88 fuse. I was intending to fit it to a 20AMP MCB, as this appears sufficient to me.
I called the Mits technical helpline, and was informed that if I don't connect it to a 25AMP BS88 fuse it would void the warranty??? I think this is a nonsense as to how it would void the warranty, but would anyone kindly confirm whether a 20Amp B type MCB would be okay?

I don't know where the 25A came from.

Looking at www.orionairsales.co.uk/mitsubishi-electric-msz-gb50va-wall-mounted-50kw--17000btu-inverter-233-p.asp

it says it requires a 16A HRC fuse, so your 20A MCB might be over generous.

I would try a 16A MCB (B curve) first of all....if you experience tripping you could then try changing to a C curve. Its only got a starting and running current of 5A so I doubt that you should have problems. A lot of these small inverter units will happily run on a 13A spur.

Don't forget an outside isolator switch.

Thanks for the reply, but the Mits website and tech support say different to your link (i tried pasting the link but it won't let me because i am new to here)
I will go ahead with the type B 20amp mcb, and thanks again.

A 20A MCB will be fine for a MSZ-GB50VA.

We recently installed 5 MSZ-GA71VA where 5 R22 6kW panasonics had been.

The existing supplies were run in 2.5mm SWA and fused at 16A!

Just outa curisoty we left them as is and 1 year later there have been no problems with overcurrents.

Most A/C manufactures way overstate elctrical requirements.

Your better looking at the min & max amperage draws on the pdf spec sheets.

Remember also that the fuse/mcb is there to protect the cable not the item of equipment at the end of it.

The max running current of the model 50 is 16amp so a 20amp would be the minimum you would fit
