I would like to hear from any members on this forum on the average time that it would take to replace a compressor in a split or window wall unit. From start to finish and what would be a safe time to quote a customer for the repair? ;)

4 hours should be enough, depending on where the unit is located. IF access is hard to get to or you have to work off a ladder id quote more.

It depends if compressor has burn-out or mechanical failure. If it is burn-out, then more then one filter change could be required (if you fit burn out filters you need to remove them after cleaning), and you should consider more time for repair.

It`s like "how long is a piece of string" depends on access. If it`s on the ground I`d agree with Rude.
One thing to consider though, I`d never carry out that sort of work from a ladder; to many near misses. I`d insist on a tower or I wouldn`t consider it. Also most sites I work on wouldn`t give a work permit for it.
Oh, how many of you got called out over Xmas by the way.
