Whirlpool ARG581/1 not cooling

Help, my larder fridge is not cooling, it's approx. 4 years old. When it's initially turned on at the plug the condensor fan will run constantly and the compressor will click on, though only for a few seconds (5 secs), then will click back off. The condensor fan will continue to run and after a few minutes the compressor will again click into life but again for only a few seconds and the cycle repeats.. I changed the thermostat and monoblock connected to the compressor..to no avail. Any ideas before it's scrapped?

Thanks Tonto33, I guess it's not diy job to replace the compressor, and not cheap for a refrigeration engineer to replace it either, so it's a new fridge for me then.

compressor is 100 quid + so not really worth it

I've just purchased the newer version of the same fridge ARG581/2 for £220 new, collection on Tuesday. I'm sure many of the parts will be interchangeable with my old one should if I ever need them...thanks for the help tonto33
