hi
tried starting up a vrf system today after fixing a leak.. compressor was giving off a hummming noise, with no sign of pressure change, displayed a 42 10 error after a period of time.....checked voltage to compressor terminalsd and found all evenish, apart from a differentail of 8volts on 1 phase...checked current off each phase..2 x phases had 16amps and 1 phase with the slight differential absorbing nothing....checked windings for ballance etc...all ok, any ideas whats happening????

rgrds phil (bit pissed writing this since were in a recession in all) thanks

Inverter circuit faulty or compressor one phase fault!
Check inverter with inverter checker or 3 light bulbs of corresponding power connected in star.
Check compressor insulation with insulation tester.

Could have been compressor warm up function.

outside air on TH6 sensor is less than about 10 deg C when 3ph power up the outdoor control circuit board considers that the compressor must be cold & crankcase heater not had time to warm up compressor & boil off any liquid refrigerant in the compressor shell.
So it goes for comp warm up = lots of amps into the windings but no rotation just lots of humming noise.

4210 = overcurrent.

After warm up mode check power supply to comp with comp disconnected & confirm correct ballanced 3ph output from inverter.

If the system has been running SOG then comp could be damaged.
