semi hermetic compressor won,t run
3 phase supply is there, windings are not open circuit, klixon has continuity, control circuit is o.k and unit is calling for refrigerant.no current being drawn why won,t it run on artic circle guardion condensing unit

I it a Maneurop compressor with a clixon in the strat point?
Did you measured 3 times same resistance?

Silly question but are you sure you have refrigerant in this system? and do you have a LP control You didn't mention if you put gages on and checked the pressures. If you close the contacter by hand for an instant will the comp run?(Stand aside)

hi bernard,

never ever close contactor contacts by hand!!!!

check tention on compressor points.

compressor can be stuck.

what kind of startihg device do you use?

try to change direction of rotation.

Its an artic circle guardian condensing unit. the control circuit is fine the contactor is energising and both condenser fan come in.the other compressor in parralel is operating fine gas pressure ok. manufacturer could not give me a technical answer to this but told me the compressor had failed. I replaced it and the system now works fine . as my children would say BUT WHY !!!!!!

Was it a hermetic or a Maneurop?

no artic use semi's of their own design

marc knows them at the factory pretty well -as he has 'helped' them out a few times and done some commissioning work too

however their quality control isn't 'err too great' and quite a few units come shipped with their own 'test the commissioning engineer' problems -mainly wiring errors

cheers

hi bernard.

in that case, the clixon must have failed.

its located inside the windings, and when open at high temp or failure, disconnecting the three phases,

and thats why you get 440V reading on the contactor outlet, but machine will not run.
