Hi,

Ive come home from the supermarket this afternoon to find that our "Deluxe K76213377" has stopped working. There is no sound coming from it at all, and when i place my hand in side or feel some items - it feels very much like room temperature!

So far Ive tried switching off/on at the main plug - nothing. Ive turned the temperature thermo right down to "0" (light switches off at 0.) and then back to level 4/5 and still nothing. Done this twice in the past and it came back on again.

I sense its been off a good few hours now, just a bit worried about all the food in the freezer. We've not got a spare fridge laying around!

Any solutions or ideas on this?

Thanks

Nick

Best solution for you, If you don't have basic knowledge in electric troubleshooting and some tools, is to try to spread your food among frendly neighbors and call service engineer to check what is wrong with fridge.

Update:

It came back on again a few hours after I posted my question. I reckon it was just automatically going into defrost mode, but its come right. :D

Thanks for your input guys.

Hi guys,

Apologises if this is the wrong forum to post and i hope copplemeister doesn't mind me hijacking his thread ... but i didn't see sense in creating a new topic with the same headline.

My parents have got a whirlpool Arc7050 fridge freezer and the fridge compartment has stopped working. The freezer compartment is working but seems to be working better than it should.

I've had the unit out and the compressor seems to be running ok .... but that's about as far as my knowledge of what to look for runs.

Any help or hints that can be suggested are greatly appreciated...

Thanks in anticipation

John

PS .. i work in medical electronics so go easy on me...haha

With reference to the original post, we're seeing a lot of domestic units situauted in out-houses/ garages where at present the ambient temperature doesn't get above 2/3 degrees c all day. Result: fridge stat doesn't need to switch compressor on as fridge cabinet temp is ok for a frridge, result: frozen food starts to thaw to ambient temperature = soggy peas!

Had british gas come and have a look at fridge. Turns out the Heating element of the defrost mechanism had packed up. He replaced it and with hope of it working, left. I checked the next day and it still was not working.

Conclusion:

Bought a new fridge (Hotpoint) and much happier.
Dont really think the guy from British Gas was all that
clued up with what he was doing.

yes . when i was on the domestic side about 10 years ago i was always coming across this problem in the winter months . some customers used to look at me in shock when i explained to them that their fridge freezer was in a place too cold too work(only used to apply to the ones with 1 compressor and 1 t/stat )the units with two comps and two t/stats where unaffected. our company had a little flyer printed out to leave with the customer explaining the facts .:rolleyes:;)

Thanks for the reply Paul but my unit is in the house and the problem has been through the summer months, so cold location not very likely any more ideas for a whirlpool ARC7050?

At who you are referring when you say that he has same problem like you?
What are your skills in troubleshooting electric parts?
Do you have tools for that tasks?
Are you sure that you are not going to be electrocuted during testing of electric parts?

call out a domestic refrigeration engineer .

If the freezer is working and not the fridge, need to look at the evaporator fan(internal), if it's running, most likely a defrost issue.

maybe raise the airconditioning set point.or replace intermittent defrost timer.f nose
