I've got a split a/c here with a stuffed compressor, and there's no model number on it.
Indoor is a 42P100H, outdoor is a plastic top and sides type.
Apparently I can't get a compressor because that indoor unit could be connected to many different outdoor units!?
If that's their philosphy maybe they should invest in weatherproof stickers for model numbers
Outdoor has a carrier compressor model SF130111H.
This doesn't exist in the system though I'm told.

The outdoor has a wiring diagram with 338YB5X44050 written on it. But besides that the only thing I can say is the liquid line is 1/4" and the suction is 3/8".

How do I get a replacement compressor for this unit?
I'd love to throw it away and by a new unit, but this job is going through insurance and that's already been paid and organised.

If there's anyone from carrier here:
I quoted this job already because someone from carrier said previously that the compressor part number was PH180X1C4FTDE3.

But now when it's come time to order it, a different guy says they have to order the compressor in, and without the outdoor model number, I might get the wrong compressor, and of course there would be no returning if it is te wrong one.
Can anyone with carrier manuals check that part number?
Can anyone tel me just how many different outdoor units was matched with an indoor 42P100H, what were those model numbers and if there's any visible differences between them all?

Yeah, I googled it too.
Got the operation manual from there, and a possible outdoor model number from there (38P100H), but there's no parts manuals or service manuals from there to be sure that this is the right unit/compressor.
Carrier and totaline are telling me that because this is an older unit, it might not be that outdoor unit, ie they can't guarantee it's a 38P100H I'm looking at.

Sorry, I should have mentioned me finding that site when searching for myself already, and those possible outdoor model numbers.
As this unit is older than those models shown, it didn't look like it would help me. What I need is a compressor, what I have is a compressor model number. Why is carrier making it so hard

edit: You know what? I'm going to try getting someone else from the parts supplier on the phone. The last guy I talked to weeks ago before quoting the job didn't have a problem linking a compressor to the indoor model #. This guy I'm talking to now (got him every time I phoned today), says "no dice without the outdoor model number".

That site you linked to multisync, I looked at earlier doesn't seem to have a problem with listing only one outdoor unit with this known indoor. But I just kept getting the same "can't help" answer from the same guy on the phone today.

Doesn't seem likely that the outdoor is anything other than a 38p100h. edit: But I was quoted $510 for a compressor and can;t afford to eat that loss if it's the wrong compressor so I'm being over cautious before ordering.
I'm going to speak to people further up the chain next week, but in the meantime, any input from carrier specialists about these models would be appreciated.

You speaking to the guys at totaline? I think we deal with Ron there.

Also if we find a compressor stuffed in a split that size we generally just quote to replace the unit. At least then you get 5 years warentee and service agents back up.

totaline in perth.
This is an insurance job for a guy just wanting to fix things before he hands everything over. He's not going to care about a longer warranty, he has moved out. The insurance company is a lot easier to get an approval for repair rather than replacment.
It's no difference to me $ wise, but been through the paperwork once already and have had approval to repair.
edit:
totaline guy was just being difficult, even carrier said only one outdoor would go with that indoor. Worst thing is, it's not just wasted my time, but between starting this process and fnially getting a compressor on order, theyv'e had a $60 price rise that I have to eat up, so all this for not $200 but now $140 for me even though I've wasted so much time on it because of this one guy.
