Hi guys,

I have a spec which says that the chillers are YORK/awhp65... They should be air cooled reciprocating chillers... Can anyone tell me what series are these because I cant find anything like this online.

Thanks A LOT for any answer!
Cheers!

AWHP usually mean, "Air (to) Water Heat Pump.

York had a packaged chiller version with a reverse cycle that could pick up ambient heat and reject it into a parallel water circuit.

This was back in the 1980s.

A bit old-hat now. It was not particularly reliable or efficient, as I recall.

Greetings thetrialboy?
Argus is correct in what he Say's.

Please refer to the manual I have posted on the link below.
It may help answer a few questions?
Although they are old and outdated now!
The reason why you can't find it on line as it is no longer produced.
Although I think the spares for it are still available.
I believe there are still some chugging on down in deepest darkest Cornwall?

EnergyPack!

That's what they called them...... it's all coming flooding back to me now. Thanks for the link, Grizzly.

I remember a large building in Central London that had a pair of them fitted in about 1982.
York's guys must have been living there - they were always on the roof trying to get the things to work.

I went back there about a year and a half later and they were still at it....

(I worked for Carrier at the time and we thought it was hilarious).

On a serious note, this machine was an early an attempt to recover heat and provide simultaneous heat and cool before VRF, so the idea was sound, it's just that the electro mechanical technology in the early 80s wasn't up to the job.

Many of them were subsequently converted to straight chillers.

Strange to see that one of these is still around in Hong Kong..........

The AWHP was produced up until 2006 but with much improved reliability and efficiency.
