Frank,
the sw, on the suction line could be a low pressure cut out to protect the compressor if the system looses it's gas charge. If it's a 3 phase system then from that control you should have a wire to that goes to the compressor motor starter coil and the condenser fan contactor coil (parallel) This is very unuasual it may indicate a bad compressor or out of gas so it was disconnected.
Roger:rolleyes:

Yes It Probably is a LPCO Switch. We have quite a few of these units still working out this way & they are all S***

Hello Frank,
Got to aggree with Brian on this one especially if it's one of them S***ty units that has gas going to the indoor unit for heating.

Get them to buy a cople of splits, it will work out cheaper in the long run just think of the power these old units consume even before you start taking into account repair costs

Raymond

P.S. What part of Scotland are you from.

hi frank,

every switch that have two wires is a contact switch, HP,LP .

the HP is usualy has a manual reset but the LP dont, try to "bridge " it ( hope its the right term) so you will know if its that switch.

if works, dont waste time and and leave it bgidged.
