Some small copanies do domestics as a sideline but the for the most part domestic repairs are done by companies who specialise in white goods.

As for the money I do not know :)

Cheers taz.

Taz24 is right, those small companies are called appliance(white goods) repair companies. So you may get stuck working on washers and dryers too. I left a job making $18usa p/hour to start my own company. Pay can range from $12 to $24 p/hour depending on geographical location and skill level.

Hi
I'm a white goods engineer, the pay is not that great start pay £15k up to £23 depends wot area you are in,yes we do all domestic appliances ( washers cookers etc) but mostly refrigeration as not many ppl do system work on them, which is what we like,i guess they more pay in a/c or commercial but im happy with 1k a week. As for work always busy as there is shortage of engineers plus all courses we do are free from manufacturers ...

Wow tonto, seems you get paid more for domestic there than in AU.
It's different here, as all the manufacturers try and find refrig companies to supply their warranty labour, rather than whitegood repairers as they are after people who can do a/cs too, and know exactly what they are doing. Doing warranty service work is how you get all the out of warranty jobs, as you get listed on the companies website as an authorised repairer and easy access to parts.
So a lot of companies do domestic repairs on the side, and never see a washer or drier.
Mind you we only get fixed price whole job au$90 for warranty, but charge whatever we want for the out of warranty jobs.
I charge $60 callout, and $80/hr, now where near what you charge :D
Yes there's money in it, as an employee I was earning the same as some commercial techs here, $30/hr.
The only problem is the work is worse (more jobs per day compared to commercial) and we did domestic a/cs too (crawling through roof spaces gething covered in fiberglass dust. There's no such thing as an organised, cleanly laid out safe working enviroment in the domestic field, more dodgy stuff goes on as far as safe access and installs too)
