Hello everybody,
I'm having a defrost problem on a air/water heat pump using the copeland EVI-system. In order to obtain good distrubution of refrigerant to the evaporator in heating mode I need a rather small nozzle in the distributor. (EVI-system provide massive subcooling to TVX and hence a big liquid ratio after the expansion valve) In reverse mode (defrost) I think that the big pressuredrop in the nozzle will affect the massflow of refrigerant negatively and give poor efficiensy to the defrost. If so, I was thinking that you may use a distrubutor with a side connetion between the nozzle and distributortubes to avoid the pressuredrop in reverse mode but still have it in heating mode. Does anybody know of such a component (brand/manufacturer) and do you think it could work?
/Thanks

Alen
EVI (enhanced vapor injection)
Do you mean EEV
You could bypass the the distrubutor cone with a line off the coil which includes a non return valve.
