Hello,

I am using R23 refrigerant. I inject 100 pounds of R23 from a tank at 2000 psi (liquid form) into a refrigerant line at ambiant temperature, and I want to have no more than 300 psi. What is the calculation to obtain the volume required in my line.
Thanks

try and use "coolpack" you can find it here http://www.et.web.mek.dtu.dk/Coolpack/UK/download.html

The pressure in a cylinder of R23 will be around 500 psi at normal ambient temperatures. 100lb of R23 corresponds to 86.25 litres of fluid at the critical temperature of 26.3 deg C. At this temperature the critical pressure is 700 psi. so at the same temperature 2 x 86.25 will give 350psi. This should mean that you need a system volume of at least 700/300 x 86.25 = 201.25 litres. Most cascade systems have a standing pressure nearer to 100 psi though. Hope this helps.
