Morning,

I have to calculate ac for shop,40m2, with 55 x 50w spotlights.

These lights bump the unit size right up from 7 to 10kW on cooling calc.

If I worked on rule of thumb and ignored the lighting then would this be okay as its only a small area.

Please advise me.

Are these lights fitted in or under the ceiling?

If they are in the room / under the ceiling, I would allow for their full rating.
If they are fitted in the ceiling tiles and no air-circulation takes place above the ceiling, a lot of the heatgain could be ignored...

Hi Viking,

They are fitted on a track in the shop so I suppose the heat will be in the shop. Low voltage lights pass their heat through the back and mains voltage pass their heat through the front. I don't know which type is fitted and I am not sure if this would matter as they point towards the wall and maybe the heat will pass into the wall.
