Hi, I'm new to the site, so please go easy!
I'm looking at a 6yo Liebherr GSS2763 freezer, very clean and no faults to date.

Last w/e freezer shot up to maximum display (-32c) and shows no sign of control. Have shut it down and re-started according to the book, but so far it's at -21c and dropping (should stop at -18c).

Could this be a sensor failure? I read that Liebherr had some problems with fridges some years back, but can't see any similar issues with freezer. The handbook is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard, as it's only concerned with failure to freeze!

Any help/thoughts welcome;)

Cheers from sylly Suffolk!

Have you checked the actual temperature within the freezer and how does it compare with the control unit display ?

edit:

Unfortunately not free but if you want a service manual you can buy one from here...

Hi Brian - haven't checked the actual temperature yet, but food seemed well below -18C .... I couldn't bite into a choc-ice!

Seriously, by obsevation I believe the freezer is running too cold .... but since this model only has LEDs for -18, -21, -25 and -32 it's hard to tell how low it's manageing to drop the internal temp.

Sorry, don't know the model concerned so was only guessing.

Sound like a stuck thermostat control or relay somewhere keeping the compressor running.

Time to get the multimeter out methinks.
