can the message 'bit' be made a tad bigger/clearer as several times i have a new message but haven't noticed it

What you mean the flashing you have a message is not enough?

go to your admin page and check and make sure you have that pop up feature enabled :)

I dont see the difference between that and the very large Area above it in green with Private Messages on it flashing as it does just now.

yes i've spent my whole life being english..but try not to let your -obviously justified-colonial inferiority complex get in the way of the fact that i don't ever see a flashing green thing.
i'm having a simular discussion with cooling services re their technical area -the files that are there don't show up on my laptop..
my fault or theirs -who knows??
