Any ideas of UK companies (Sussex/Surrey) areas that might want a 10-year old mitsi wall mount. The fan and indoor PCB are shot but there might be some use for the condenser parts that are getting rather obscure by now:

This Wall-mount system was working until 3wks ago until the above faults. Manufactured: 1997; The Room Model: MS18NV-E3, (5kW Cooling-only); Condenser: MU18NV; Designed for 15m runs; It was R22 kit but had the gas changed to R417a (MO59), the drop-in replacement for R22.

We could scrap it but just had one of those save-the-planet thoughts, maybe there is someone with one of these systems still going, who might want the thing for spares.

Any ideas?

Scrap it. Odds are like your system, the first fault any wall split is going to get is electrical/electronic. Having a spare condenser or evap unit won't help anyone, they'll need the parts that you needed but couldn't get either.
I don't think anyone would like to install a secondhand compressor and have to provide waranty for it.

Agree.

10 years is good going for a regulaly used A/C unit.

Bin it!
