Rigging a Dorm room refrigerator...

I have a sailboat which has a basic ice locker. How can I use an old dorm room refrigerator to cool the one on my boat?

a 300W peak inverter and good clearance for the condensor coil & a couple of good sized solar cells as the inverter will be power hungry!

I have power on board, so power will not be an issue. I already have a refrigerator on board, but am looking to cool the ice locker as well. Is it possible to Jerry Rig parts from the dorm room fridge to work in the cooler?

Not easily, but if you really care fully decouple the freezer plate from the old box and care fully install it in the box and not break any pipes that could work. This is based on you being lucky enough to have a dorm fridge that doesn't have the condensor embeded into the box.

I still recommend a solar cell for good redundancy & for when your sailing you'll need to charge for some how right?

first you need to now is how you are going to connect the tubes,because i think they will be in aluminum. second i think its best to have a fridge working on 12V or 24V,so change the compressor.check you're alternator,generator.and last but not least,if you want it to work under sailing conditions,it needs to be working under an angel of 30° or 35° sloop of the boat.
