Could anyone help me.
I have a peugeot 406 with climate control and I can't find any data on the air conditioning system, I have emailed Peugeot and been ignored and have tried an autodata disk ,but that just came up with engine management schematics.
So before I start UV die checking to find the leak ,I would like to know the systems configuration and the gas charging quantity.

If anyone can help Iwould be very greatful.
Thanks
Neil

Neil, the charging data 'should' be on a plate within the engine compartment; unless someone has nicked it !

Hi Neil,

The refrigerant charge for the 406 (all models with either the Sanden SD7V16 or the Harrison/Delphi V5 Compressor fitted to some of the HDI diesels) is 780g to 820g. the lubricant for the Sanden compressor is PAG46, for the Harrison/Delphi is PAG150

Both service ports are behind the nearside headlamp and the system uses a TXV mounted on to the bulkhead.

Both of the compressors used are variable displacement units and the sanden can give trouble with the mechanism sticking, sadly there is little that can be done for them when they do this other replace the compressor, similarly the clutch coil does have a high mortality rate. If you need any more help let me know

Oh! as with all pugs I would look closely at the condenser for leaks. Good luck

I have a failing aircon on a 2000 Pug 406. It was re-gassed last year and lasted a couple of months, and then stopped again.

It has a Sanden compressor. All the pipes and connections look ok, but I can't see all the bends and connections (or under the tape and connectors).

Can somebody recommend a specialist in South London area.

Hi Everyone.
I have a "R" reg 406 1.9 td, and the climate control system has lost its cooling. The culpit would seem to be comp electrics. Can anyone help with this please, comp, and system work ok when comp is powered direct from battery.
Regards, Harry

Fordson - Harry,
your system is probably low on refrigerant and is cut out on the pressure protection switch.

I have had the evap coils leaking on early 406s

Hi Everyone,
System was evacuated and recharged. When comp is fed from battery, entire climate control is ok. Ambient only when cooling otherwise, though system still tries to maintain set temp.

Harry

condenser is usually an absolute disaster area

Hi everyone.
System held vac, so cond should be ok. But, had to run system with comp fed from battery today, and it now works with normal connections! comp cycles though, is this normal?
