Hi

Just wondering if anyone has made the swap from
industrial to commercial. I'm thinking about giving it a go. Does an industrial background work well. What are the pro's and cons. I believe the salary is better too;)

cheers for now

Geoff

Hi Geoffg

I have gone the other way, commercial to industrial.

Conns

Commercial money isnt any better. The call router is still there, especially on pub work.

Pros

If its something that you want to do then try it.

Good luck with whatever you do

Matt

My first fifteen years in the trade were with companies that specialised in commercial and industrial. After fifteen years I slowly settled for comercial and have concentrated on suppermarkets for the most part since. So I did not find the transition between the two, too difficult.
So to answer your question, How are you electricaly?
I would suggest that if you are confident with the electrical side you will be ok. Some industrial engineers do not always work on the electrics, but to work commercial you will need to have a good understanding of electrics.

Cheers taz.

I did my training for 4 years on industrial and decided to take the commercial path, did commercial for 5 years and got offered a chance back into the industrial side, gave it a go and was not a good move im now back in the commercial game and think it is all about personal preference. As far as the work is concerned so long as your willing to ask others there is no problem grasping it. Also in commercial you need at least 3 elbows in one arm to change fan motors. It can be frustrating. Good luck hope all goes well !!
