I'm in the process of designing a CO2 bulk tank and I'm curious if it would be possible to use the stored CO2 as the refrigerant. This would essentially eliminate the need for an evaporator all together. Am I correct in my thinking? Are there any companies that make R744 condensing units? I saw that Danfoss makes compressors, but not the entire condensing unit.

Thanks in advance!

Using the CO2 from the bulk tank as the refrigerant is the same principle used in atmospheric ammonia storage tanks. The fluid in storage is used as the refrigerant itself.

For a CO2 system though you would need a cascade refrigeration system, which increases the cost and complexity.

A simple refrigeration system using an evaporator inside the bulk tank is most likely the simplest means to accomplish this task (as mentioned in your other post).

Hope that helps.

if you mean: to keep CO2 in storage tank ,there are 2 methods
1- litle breathing
2-small refrigrants units. as example 2hp units for 6 qupic
