power consumption

Anybody got a quick rule of thumb, easy to explain (and understand) method for working out a split system's power consumption..... for customers!!!!

Most units tell you on the data plate. If not (but it will be) it´s normally around 30% of the cooling capacity but that depends on the system.

Sorry I meant running cost...pence per hour sorta thing.....I know, I should say what I mean!

If a 3.5kw system has a COP of 3.5 then the running current at maximum will be 1kw consumption.
Electricity is at present around 11 pence per kw hour so this system will run at 11 pence per hour whilst at maximum. If its an inverter it will be less depending at what capicity its running at.
