Hi,

I posted this earlier but have just realised that I put it in the wrong section - sorry!

I own a rather old Candy fridge freezer (13 years old). I defrosted by simply switching it off for 10 hours. I have now switched it back on and the freezer works perfectly but the fridge is not working at all.

The unit is a single compressor and single thermostat type.

Thanks for your help.

Just some more info that may help....

When I touch the compressor is seems to be very hot, I can only touch it for a few seconds before it gets too hot to bare.

It's not red hot, just very warm.

Compressor temperature should be very warm/hot to touch. It is normal.

Ok thanks. Maybe the fridge is fine, in 12 hours it has come down from 20C to 13C. The freezer got down to -18 in just a couple of hours so I thougth the fridge should be fast too.

Does the fridge part is full of groceries or it is empty?
If it is empty, that is weak performance. Check your door for air leak.

Thats it!!!
The fridge was empty, I checked for a leak and found the seal around the door is torn!
Thanks very much for your help.:D
