Can anyone advise what type of synthetic oil to use in the compressor for a Fujitsu AOY18RZCL split system that has been converted rrom R22 to R407c? There's just too many to choose from and I can't find anyone who with a sensible answer.

That is Tecumseh compressor, probably piston type.

It is important that right viscosity is used.

These (http://ftp.nucalgon.com/ftp/prodlit/3-101.pdf) are Tecumseh approved oils, but you need to find out viscosity for your case.
Send them (http://www.tecumseh-europe.fr/index.php) (at "contact us" tab) question with compressor model no. and I am sure that you will get right information.
