Hi all,

What are the regs on ventilation?

I have a customer who wants ac in an office 3x4 with no windows.

Also, is there a requirement if an office has an opening window?

iam sure the design guys on here will help me out,but as far as regs go the ventilation will be governed by the number of air changes required per hour, this is calculated by area and occupancy

am i right?

Seems right to me Paul.

The opening window 'get-out' can only be used for toilet areas I believe.

Document F requires non-domestic buildings to be ventilated. To remove airbourne water vapour or other contaminants then mechanical extract will be required.

If the building has occupants, i.e. it isn't just used for storage, then fresh air must be introduced at a rate no less than 10 litres/sec per person. The fresh air can be provided by various means, mechanical fans being one method.

Where rooms have opening windows then this also is an acceptable method, although there are drawbacks, How is the ventilation rate measured? how is the control of contaminants measured? etc.
