Hello everyone.

Recently I came across the Thermal Storage systems. I also saw one of those installed by a company named Cristopia in Mumbai. Cristopia is a French company. They create a thermowell wherein they store the energy by running the refrigeration system(chiller) at night when there is almost no load.

Now when the peak demand comes in the afternoon and the chiller is unable to meet the demand then they start the thermal sink. So together the chiller and the thermal sink are able to meet the peak load / demand.

Now the chiller is running on full load during the day. After that it works on part load at night charging the system. The cristopia people claim they are saving energy in the whole process. Also a lower capacity chiller can be installed by determining the hourly load and the peak load. In this case the peak load will be taken care off by the thermal sink.

Is it possible? If yes then the only variation is of the solar load which determines the peak load atleast in the tropical regions. Can the hourly load calculation program be of any use? if yes is there any program available that is user friendly? How is power saved in the process?

Please advise.
