I just baught a air con for my appartment and its got R407c gas and ive never delt with it before. Can i use my R22 gauges or my R410a gauges??
Or do i have to go and buy gauges that are for R407c?

Thanx

Yes, gauges measure pressure and R22/R407c can be measured by the same instrument unlike R410a (with higher pressures probably needs a wider range gauge).

What you should not use is the temperature scale. I'm not saying you can't because temperatures are close enough but you introduce an error.

It's better to use the same gauge but if you want the saturation temperature, look in a chart for R407c.

I can not belive the mods have not picked up on this!!!!!as i know all gauges that compare 22 will have 407 and 134 and pos 404. YOU will have come across this if you know what you are doing??

And if you have just bourght it and i presume are fitting it your self what do you need the gauges for unless there is a problem with the install.Gauges are ONLY used for diagnostics and poss inital vac If you do that??

I can not believe the mods have not picked up on this!!!!!

as i know all gauges that compare 22 will have 407 and 134 and possibly 404.

YOU will have come across this if you know what you are doing??Please explain in unexcited text why you think that a Moderator should have responded instantly to this thread. :(

Also, your assumption that all R22 gauges have the other refrigerants on the dial is incorrect. There are many on the market that have a single refrigerant scale.

Your final sentence assumes that all technicians are at the same level of competence as yourself and we take it on trust that you know what you are doing:eek:

close enough figures aren t good enough you got readings for r407c and r22 for these systems to run with most efficiency thy ve got to right i m glad some of you don t work for me i would have more callbacks for systems not working correctly than i could deal with . people come to this forom for profesional advice not guess work

Yes this is true. If I needed temps i would definitely acquire the appropriate gauges. I currently work on ULT Freezers and only need to worry about pressures. The temperatures I need and use are inside the Heat Exchanger Condenser. Plus in our system we use R407D.:) Happy Trails....
