View Full Version : r414b in to a r22 unit will it work

I want to know what may happen if i put r414b into a new r22 condenser, we install a new deil and added r414b into it work good. so i order a new unit for a walk in ref but can't get r22 without epa les, going for it but need to get this walk-in unit runing now or lose money every day and i had a guy come look but wants about $1,000 to charge. I have 27 lb left of r414b and no r22 any help.

R 414b is normally used to retrofit an R-12 system it has a lower density then R-22 so the new compressor may loose about 30% efficiency at 20 *F evaporator and this could make the condenser too big but if you use it you need to pay attention to the following:
. TXV valve adjustment / superheat setting (use Vapor side of PT chart)
· Pressure controls (cut in / cut out)
· Pressure related switches or controls – difference from R-22 pressures
· Irregular frost formation with high glide blends

leave it to the pros doing that could ruin any warrentee on the syst and if not done properly could cost you more money than you ar tryin to save (handleing any type of ***** you have to be certified ):o

certified I am going for it class a little easy on the subject, no one in my class could me a thing may change i'll get the pro and stop all of the lost but $985.00. thank all anymore try's let me know
