I have a whirlpool fridge freezer S20DFSS10, which is just under 4 yrs old. There is an intermittent clicking/tapping noise coming from the back (a white electrical control box). It seems to happen after the fan has been on for a while and starts to slow down. If you open one of the doors the fan speeds up and the noise stops it also stops when the fan competely stops.
Another problem is the LED display in the fridge it is constantly flashing, it has been like this for a number of months, although this does not affect the running of the fridge freezer. I would appreciate any help on either matter.

Sorry to seem thick! What do you mean by rear board failure?
Would this apply to both problems?
What part would I need to purchase and how easy would it be to replace?
Many thanks.

"both problems?"
display flashing isnt a problem its a symptom or better still a warnining
contact chatter is a problem, so is the fact you bought a whirlpool in the first place... so thats both problems
a main PC board is what to ask for not a display board.

a trained monkey could fit one, "if you took a connector off the old one put it in the same place on the new one"

and dont forget, if you kill yourself doing work best left to a traind technician........can I have your car ?

Hi,
I have the same problem, clicking noise and flashing led, with whirpool S20B RW22-A/G 8586151 10001 and have changed the main board LOT23500/5 CU 800001 but it didn't solve the problem.
Does anybody have any ideas what else could be causing clicking noise and flashing display?

Quote from a memo from Whirlpool.
" User interface flickering"

This is caused by either electrical or radio interference. If left on it will do the following:
1 automatic change of temp set up on display

2 random engagement of solenoid

3 random engagement of water valve

4 damage to main P.C.B.

5 ice maker motor burnt out.

Check the following: Solenoid seized....main pcb burnt out...ice maker motor burnt out.
If none of the above are evident...put on child lock this will prevent any further damage to the above parts until the user interface board is fitted.

Interface board 480132100487
New board PP3 with a ventilation gap...old board PP1 and PP2 must not be used.

MAINPCB 480132100476
SOLENOID 481228168429
ICE MAKER MOTOR 481236138134
INLET VALVE 481236058486

This is best taken care of with a cold bottle of Molson Canadian Lager. You open the beer then go out into the back garden and sit in the sun to enjoy the beer. While you're out there, you can't hear the noise or se the flashing light.:D
