As the title implies,
the attached Photograph.
Is of a large Maneurope Hermetic with attached Solenoid coil loading gear!!!
As I have never seen one before I thought it was worthy of a post.

Hi Grizzly,
Why the six power terminals? Is it partwind/star delta start or does it have two compressors in one can?

A good question Jon!
Maybe someone else can help with that one?
I know a man that may well know but I won't be able to ask until Monday at the earliest.
I think some of these were 2 speed apparently!
But I am not too sure.
Alternativly as there is no Liquid Line Solenoid Valve, maybe it's part wind to handle the high pressures during start-up ?

A friend of mine fitted a big maneurop compressor ten or fifteen years ago and i remember him saying it had two separate compressors in the one can, it replaced a big open drive compressor.

The Maneurop MT200 & 300 series 8 cylinder compressors had two compressors, hence two sets of terminals. It was absolutely essential to get the phases connected correctly to ensure rotation was the same on each.
I wonder the solenoid might be an off loader as previously mentioned.
